BARBARA KENNEDY FINE ART
Barbara has been creating art in one form or another her entire life. From oil and acrylic painting, to beading and fiber art, to playing keyboards in an international acclaimed reggae band. She lives a creative life that touches everything she puts her mind and heart into.
In 2020, as the world struggled with massive changes due to the pandemic, Barbara was faced with a sudden change in her vision due to a genetic condition called macular degeneration. By summer 2020, she was designated legally blind. Amongst many of the challenges she faced was how to continue her creative practice in painting when she struggles to see the end of the paint brush or see the clear line where colors merge.
Despite these challenges, Barbara continues to experiment and push forward her pursuit of sharing her paintings with the world. She is consistently developing new techniques to paint as her vision continues to get worse. Her ability to paint details is gone but what remains is her superpower … the expert use of color, contrast and form, as well as, her ability to make the viewer feel something, titrating it all down to the very essence of what art is, emotion.
Kennedy's work is available in her studio and at Curated Gallelry and Gifts in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
